FLM Loans - Threatening nature, and possible illegal actions by Staff |

Company information:
FLM Loans.
United Kingdom
Take a look at the way FLM have handled this poor, distressed young girl! Note particularly, the advice given to her by FLM Loans. This must be very close to the Law that says it is illegal to 'Demand money with menaces!' WHY are these companies allowed to get away with this? This was posted on the Internet by a young lady who was obviously terrified by this company.
Problems with a company called flm?
im having alot of hassle of a loan company called flm.
i became a guarentor for someone, i have since lost my job but flm ring me almost daily as the payments have fallen behind.they threaten me with summons and losing my house.i have gone to a debt consolidation agency as like i say, i lost my job and things were just to tight to survive on.
flm say the debt agency are lying to me, , that there is no way they should be dealing with this debt and no matter what the debt place say, i should still b paying flm direct.however...
the debt place r saying they deal with flm on a daily basis, that they r vultures and will say anything they can to try and get me to pay up!ive been in tears on the phone to flm, when theyve been telling me to sell my babies toys if i have to, they dont care how i get the money, , just to get it!
please help...any advice??? |

Can i just say its your own fault if you miss payments that you said you could make, you should not lend money if you cant pay it back. I had a loan with flm and they have never been bad to me, i pay on time every time and now they say i can go back if i ever need too for more. I think some people need a little help and not just in the money areas, any company or bank you dont pay they wont like it if you lent your mate 50 pounds and then he turned round and said im not paying you when he was ment too you also would be upset. Anyone who needs a loan and has not got a great credit rating or rebuilding there rating can use flm. |

I signed guarantor for a 'so called friend' for a loan from this company. She made the first payment and that was it. I went into my bank account to discover they had taken it out of mine and never even chased her for the money. When I explained to them that I could not afford to pay this as I was a single parent they were not interested. After many threats to be taken to court etc I went to Citizen's Advice Bureau and they agreed a payment plan with me. After a year of never missing this payment, I went into check my bank account to discover they had taken £500 out of my account and that put me way over my overdraft. In floods of tears I phoned the company and was just told that they were within their rights to do this as the agrred payment plan only lasted for 1 year - this was not mentioned in the letter I received from them. I also asked them why they were not chasing the person who recieved the money and they said that as I signed guarantor it is treated as a joint loan. I thought a guarantor was somebody who they contacted after they had exhausted all possible ways of getting money from the person who actually got the loan. They are treating me worse than they are treating her and I never got any benefit of the money.
At this point I wrote a letter to the Financial Ombudsman and also to Trading Standards and contacted my bank to say this money should not have been paid out. The result of this was that my money was re-imbursed and I recieved a letter of apology from FLM and am back on an agreed monthly payment of which I can afford.
My advice is to contact the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards as it worked for me and I think everybody has got to start complaining to someone in authority about this company. |

I have read the various comments and although I sympathise flm does make it clear when you take out the loan that if you miss payments then they will apply for payments from your guarantor, hence the need for a guarantor. I have had 2 loans with flm and have found the staff to be very helpful neither myself or my guarantor has had any hassle. Simple solution to people's problems with flm keep payments uptodate ..... any business will try to get any money that is owed to them

I think it's important to be honest to yourself. When I first heard that FLM loans is a scam I thought they take your money and disappear. Amazingly I realised all who complained actually got the loan from them, so they didn't cheat anyone. The only problem was for those who didn't adhere to the loan agreements, i.e. they didn't pay as they were supposed to do. So, we shouldn't blame this company, for sure it's one of the few companies that does what it promises. Other companies like Yes Loan they will immediately take money from your account what they claim it to be 'administration fee' and after that forget it! Stories after stories. PLEASE! DON'T ENTER INTO A LOAN AGREEMENT IF YOU ARE NOT SURE YOU WILL PAY AS YOUR PROMISED, this is the rule of thumb. |

my partner and i are currently going through a loan application with FLM and i must admit that they have been helpful and professional until now. We are just waiting on the money and although we dont have BAD credit ratings trying to get a loan at the moment it horrific. After reading the comments i got worried however if you dont make monthly payments they are the same as any other companies its bad news. And they have sent all the forms out to my guarantor and he understands what will happen. People wonder why they have bad credit ratings pay your loan repayments on time you wont have these problems! |

FLM Loan is not a loan to help people but to gain more money from the people.
they don't consider you when you have genuine reasons for paying late. They put your guarantor to problems and insult you with phone calls day and night. I will advice people not to ask them for loan. They are not helpful at all.

Check this out some help
http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/debt_factsheets/harassment_of_people_in_debt_by_creditors.php#1
Harassment of people in debt by creditors or their agents is a criminal offence under the Administration of Justice Act 1970. It is often difficult to know what to do when you feel a creditor is not dealing with your account fairly.
In order for you to identify what activities by your creditors may involve harassment and what can be done about the problem, this factsheet outlines:
Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act
“S40 Punishment for unlawful harassment of debtors.
1. A person commits an offence if, with the object of coercing another person to pay money claimed from the other as a debt due under a contract he-
o harasses the other with demands for payment which, in respect of their frequency, or the manner or occasion of making any such demand, or of any threat or publicity by which any demand is accompanied, are calculated to subject him or members of his family or household to alarm, distress or humiliation;
o falsely represents, in relation to the money claimed, that criminal proceedings lie for failure to pay it;
or enforce payment; or
o utters a document falsely represented by him to have some official character, or purporting to have some official character which he know it has not.
2. A person may be guilty of an offence by virtue of sub-section (1) (a) above if he concerts with others in the taking of such actions as is described in that paragraph, notwithstanding that his own course of conduct does not by itself amount to harassment.”

To the Loaner Danielle. NO loan company bothers you if you pay back your loan on time. In fact everything people have mentioned on here prove overall FLM are rubbish. Most high street professional banks will never call you everyday or text you daily with a mulitude of texts. FLm are unprofessional anad say unprofessional things. ANd as realitiy goes people do get into finanacial ruts sometimes. They may lose their job or for a number of reasons, even illness. SO don't be so smug.
ANYONE CONSIDERING BEING A GUARANTOR FOR ANY LOAN COMPANY I SAY NO NO AND NO! |

1st to all those people who have loans from FLM & have no problems as you still got your income coming in to pay them WELL BLOODY DONE!!!!
But for people who have had loans & for unforeseen circumstances stuggled to payback I sympathise with you all. I have taken a loan out with FLM & my mother as guarantor...for personal reasons couldn't manage to pay the full monthly amount back... I had tried everything for help to be re-financed or lower payments for a period of time to get back on our feet but they would not even consider helping... Went thru Debt management they would except money from them but would still hassle me & mother numerous times on a daily basis (texts & calls), hlping themselves into out bank accounts (luckily got money back) now all accounts changed they have no holding of any bank acoount or card details & nor would & I trust them again!!!
Me & my mother then agreed to pay so much each month ended up paying more then agreed loan repayment!! and they still not satisfied with that, the stress & tears I've done for this company are unbelievable!!! UNLIKE SOME PEEPS OUT THERE WHO MOST PROBABLY HAVE NO INTENTION PAYING BACK THE LOAN & THINKING THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.....I WANT TO SORT MNE & PAYBACK WHAT I OWE BUT FLM AINT EVEN HELPING A TINY BIT!!!!!!!!!!
AND THEY'VE STILL TAKEN ME TO COURT & EVEN THE COURT AGREED MY REPAYMENT EACH MONTH & EVEN THO I'VE NOT MISSED A PAYMENT THEY HAVE NOW GOT A COURT ORDER TO FORCE MY MUM TO SELL HER HOUSE FOR BLOODY £2000.... THEY DO NOT GIVE A SHIT OF YOUR STUATION!!!
YES I TOOK LOAN OUT & HAVE TO PAY IT BACK BUT UNFORTUNATELY LIKE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE DON'T KNOW WHATS ROUND THE CORNER, SOME ARE LUCKY & SOME VERY UNLUCKY.
OVERALL UNLESS U WELL OFF OR NO THERE IS NO CHANCE U WILL LOSE YOUR JOB, LIFE OR LIMBS OR ANYTHING TO PREVENT YOU WORKING THEN CARRY ON GET A LOAN WITH FLM YOUR 1 OF THE LUCKY ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

i have had 2 loans from FLM and never had any worries. I have paided all my monthly payments on time and always found the staff very helpful. If it wasnt for FLM i wouldnt have been able to afford the bond for a bigger house. It states in letters that if you miss a payment your guarantor will be approached. |

I am guarantor also for an FLM Loan, and for two years now my brother has had financial difficulties and subsequently, yes, I am the one responsible for the loan. FLM DO NOT approach the guarantor Re. in advance to pre-warn they are going to be removing funds from your account BE WARNED! They have your details and see fit that if for some unfortunate reason the loan owner's DD is returned, then they whip it straight out the guarantor's account. After putting up with this for a year and myself now in £1K out of pocket for the immediate future I was able to get my bank to refuse to allow payments to this company to be made. This was has been a long drawn out process in retrieving these monies. I have wished for my brother to be able to source the monies himself to pay his debts and have subsequently cancelled any card / bank details etc., even Direct Debit details that FLM may have had set against me. I too have subsequently run into my own financial difficulties and cannot be held to this loan, oh but I am unfortunately. Even since losing my job due to compulsory redundancy, these guys are not interested. We get hounded Daily by phone calls (even after they didn't have my number they still manged to obtain it!), e.mails, oh and now we have the luxury of Harvey Sturtt on our backs for one months payment in arrears. Is this truly necessary. Is this not overkill? I have NEVER EVER come across a financial company that manages in the manner they do, not that I am a person that defaults on payments but due to circumstances out of my control this is becoming more regular than I would like. I just can't wait for the loan to be finished paying for if only could get the cash together to get them off our backs once and for all. You guys are definatelly the lucky ones out there that have not gotten into financial difficulties, and not had these problems with FLM. I can assure you no matter how nice they seem to be approaching you and the carefully worded e.mails etc., behind it all is a company that I definately would not want any dealings with. |

I agreed to be a guarantor for a friend - it has been nothing but a hassle. FLM bombarded me with emails and texts at the beginning, took everything but my blood group in a phone call. They then insisted on putting the money in my account so it looks like MY loan. I had to transfer it. Now I see they have taken a payment from MY bank card for £150 - which presumably is the first payment. My friend will give it back to me sure but it was several weeks before I noticed and it put me into overdraft. The hassle with this company has been HORRENDOUS. |

SAGA OF THE BENAMOUR BABESA !!!
It is very interesting to read the various posts submitted to this consumer service comment site. On the one hand we have genuine people who have borrowed money from FLM and have, through no fault of their own, suffered a temporary income shortfall. Subsequently, they have been treated apallingly by FLM (Benamour's Babes). On the other hand we have comments made by 'those fortunate ones' who have also borrowed from FLM and claim that this company is simply wonderful and are providing a life saving service to all Sub Prime Borrowers. However, why would any individual decide to place a positive comment about a loan company with a dubious reputation? If these angelic individuals have maintained a spotless record of loan repayments to the Benamour Babes, surely there is no reason for them to be commenting at all on this site. Who would bother? If they are experiencing no problems with FLM, then why are they going the 'extra mile' to praise this company?
Does it not make you wonder whether the posts made by these 'Angelicas' are possibly posted by GUESS WHO!!
You will notice that when a person happens to make a Google search using the word terms 'FLM Loan Scam' the majority of the listed results on the front page are now mostly taken by FLM. Out of the 10 results listed, 6 are sites placed by FLM themselves. The have used the key words FLM Loans Scam and other SEACH ENGINE OPTIMISATION TACTICS in an attempt to force genuine review/complaints sites, such as X Complaints, off the front page.
I have experienced first hand (as a Guarantor), how FLM pursue an overdue payment. Their approach is very unique and psychologically subtle. Thankfully, due to my experience with helping people with debt management etc, I can handle these tender little Benamour Babes when the need arises. My heart goes out to all those genuine Borrowers and Guarantors who have fallen foul of this dreadful company. By the way, in response to Liz's comment above Re. Rebuiding Credit Rating. Perhaps I shouldn't comment on this, no matter how much I am tempted to do so. More to come from the SAGA OF THE BENAMOUR BABES !!! |
